“Bridge Ascending is a most unusual piece. Commissioned by Pat and Norman Webster, the installation was created by Doucet Saito in 2003 from the bent and twisted girders of a local covered bridge that had been destroyed by fire. The sculpture hangs on twelve-foot posts like a raft of steel floating in the air, an unexpected monument on a slope beside a country road” (D.G. Jones, 2006).
