The neriage technique involves layering the clay and then cutting it so that the different layerings become evident in the piece. Having used the neriage technique frequently to create a variety of slab works (e.g. 124a), it was a natural, almost automatic shift when we began to use the same technique to create masks.
For this piece we used a non-glazed firing.
