In 1981, Satoshi and Louise had an opportunity to experiment with a new medium: stone. This leap into the unknown was made possible thanks to the confidence and initaitive of collectors Pat and Norman Webster, who commissioned Doucet & Saito's first stone work, a six-ton granite monolith, for their estate on Lake Ontario. To execute this sculpture, the artists had to momentarily leave their studio to set up shop in a granite plant in Lac Drolet, Quebec, and work with stonecutters from the region.
