The environment we live in has shaped our work. Our Eastern Townships farm is located on the hilly landscape of a region known for its granite formations. The nearby village of Beebe Plain is a renowned center for industrial stone work and particularly funeral monuments. By the mid-eighties, we began integrating metal and stone into some ceramic sculptures. It was only a matter of time before we were drawn to work with stone on a more regular basis, since we enjoyed its natural qualities so much. Our work was becoming more monumental and stone was becoming the logical choice for us to create shapes that could not be achieved with clay. (Louise and Satoshi)
